The COVID-19 pandemic has led to increasing numbers of people working wholly or largely from home. Contrary to the expectations of some, many organisations have seen heightened productivity, and with commuting time gone and work/life balance improved, many of us have embraced this change with open arms.
However, working from home has its own challenges, especially if you need to take over part of the kitchen, lounge, or spare bedroom as office space. Not only are you creating 'dead space' when you are not working, but it can be hard to avoid the noise and distractions of family life when you are. And sometimes your presence in these communal areas is not always welcomed by other members of the household!
Tim, our fabulous Studio Manager has found a solution to this issue and has opted for the 30-second commute: he has built an office at the end of his garden! It’s safe to say a whole load of blood, sweat and tears has gone into Tim’s new studio office judging by the photos.
“The line between home and work is easily blurred if you're working in a room of the house. My garden office has really helped me achieve the mental separation I needed. You have the perfect environment in which to concentrate on work, but you can lock up and leave it behind at the end of the day so I can enjoy some quality family time.”
