The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off is a fund-raising initiative of the Stand Up to Cancer charity, which promotes epic fundraising up and down the country. This year, Stand Up to Cancer culminated in one huge night of live TV on the 21st of October, but the fund-raising doesn’t stop there! They provide free fund-raising packs full of tips and recipes so that everyone can get involved with the Cancer Bake Off and raise money to beat cancer (see their website for more details: https://www.standuptocancer.org.uk/fundraise/bake-off).
At Solaris we love a good cake, and we were keen to join the cause. So, on the morning of 21st November, tensions were running high in the build up to the Solaris Health Bake Off. There were three teams, with four people in each team.
The theme of the bake off was ‘autumnal vibes’. One member of each team was tasked with baking a sponge cake and bringing it into the office. However, for one team, it seemed one sponge was not enough – no names mentioned here!!
The cakes were decorated beautifully! There were acorns, hedgehogs, cherries and berries, flowers, woodland animals, chocolate covered leaves – all things autumnal. Competition was fierce with Phil Adams wandering from team to team giving his much-needed impartial input into cake decorating – Paul Hollywood had better watch out!
Below are the completed masterpieces:
