Plastic Free July - Help Make A Difference
Plastic Free July® is a global movement that encourages millions of people to reduce their plastic use for the entire month, and helps them be part of the solution to plastic pollution so we can all have a cleaner future.
The initiative started in 2011, and last year over 140 million people were encouraged to take action, globally reducing waste and recycling by 2.1 billion tonnes! But most important of all, 86% of people taking part have made changes that have become habits, making Plastic Free July their way of life.
The fight towards a greener future does not stop here. We all still have our part to play! If we don’t change our habits, by 2050 there could be more plastic than fish in the sea.
The theme of this year’s Plastic Free July challenge is ‘Turn the tide, one choice at a time’, encouraging the celebration of the collective impact that millions of people can have by simply choosing to refuse plastics.
To participate in the Plastic Free July challenge, you can start out small or really challenge yourself. Making small changes is easier than it seems, like bringing your own reusable coffee cup to your morning coffee shop, or choosing to refuse single-use shopping bags. Every choice we make in our own lives to reduce our plastic waste sets an example and helps build momentum -turning the tide on plastic pollution.
We all have the power to truly make a difference and stop plastic pollution from impacting communities and the natural environment. Are you ready to take the challenge? Go to the Plastic free July website to find out how you can get involved and what you can do to live a plastic free life and truly shape our future.
