Global HTA & payer landscape assessment for metabolic indication
The challenge
The client had acquired a new asset for which phase I/II studies had been completed and the phase III study design was confirmed. They were concerned that their evidence generation plan would not allow them to achieve their commercial goals across global markets, particularly in Europe. They were therefore keen to identify evidence gaps and explore potential activities that would enhance the price and access outcomes for their product.
How we helped
Solaris prepared a global payer landscape assessment for their asset in 17 markets based on in-depth secondary research. Given the client’s need to prepare for a planned internal strategy meeting during early stages of the work, we delivered initial results in four weeks based on a rapid analysis. These first-phase research findings and hypotheses were then validated through qualitative discussions with former payers. Throughout the process there were many touch points and workshops with the client team to adjust the focus of the research in line with the team’s evolving thinking and questions.
Outcome
The final report included a summary of key insights and recommendations regarding amendments to the phase III study design, as well as evidence generation activities to optimise pricing and reimbursement which the client was able to use to inform their strategy for the product.
The client had a clear picture and validation of the market access challenges they were facing with their initial evidence generation programme. The findings pushed the team to reconsider some initial strategies and assumptions around the asset’s path to market access, and to consider priorities for further research and investment.
“I appreciated your flexibility throughout the project. You listened to our needs and responded well. We appreciated your efforts with the [payer] discussions, not just leading them but also troubleshooting the contracting. You went above and beyond.”
